IPAL Receives $254,000 Grant for OER Project

IPAL received $254,000 from the Governors Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund to coordinate a multi-institutional OER Project for 19 participating institutions. The IPAL OER Project will encourage faculty at member institutions to integrate open educational resources in their courses.  Modeled after the successful OpenHawks program at the University of Iowa, this grant will fund OER projects at multiple levels, allowing institutions at all points in the OER adoption process to participate. Faculty can be compensated for adopting materials, remixing resources, creating support tools, redesigning courses, or creating their own open resources, and awards range from $500 up to $10,000.

Two rounds of competitive grant awards will be available, one in April 2021 and another in October 2021. We highly encourage faculty at participating institutions to apply for these OER grants. More information about the grant process will be made available on the IPAL website.

This is an exciting opportunity to help OER programs expand and develop at private academic institutions in Iowa.
